Leading Men!
Posted on February 2, 2010 · Leave a CommentThis morning the Academy announced the men who were nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role. While I love to watch the entire awards show, I focus all my attention on who wins Best Actor and Best Actress. This year the nominees for Best Actor in Leading Role are: Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart, George Clooney for Up in the Air, Colin Firth for A Single Man, Morgan Freeman for Invictus, and Jeremy Renner for The Hurt Locker. Woah that list sounded like the real thing.

A Bartender in your own home!
Posted on January 29, 2010 · Leave a Comment
You always see it; you probably have done it yourself. You or your friends go out and you spend way too much on drinks. I know that my favorite drink is pretty expensive but I found a solution. Instead of going out, invite some friends over and hand out at your place. You can be your own bartender and make your own drinks, for a fraction of the price! While I’m not promoting heavy drinking, I’m promoting this delicious recipe for a Gunga Din Cocktail!
¾ oz. Gin
¼ oz. Vermouth- Dry
1 slice of a Pineapple
¼ oz. Juice- Orange
Shake all ingredients with cracked ice (preferably in a cocktail shaker) and strain into a chilled glass. Enjoy!
Please drink responsibly, and never drink and drive!

When in Rome… Act as the Romans do
Posted on January 28, 2010 · Leave a CommentOn Friday January 29, 2010 the love comedy When in Rome premieres. While this movie seems a bit predictable, I can never turn down a comedy. I love the light-hearted commentary and the ease of a comedy. When in Rome follows that same plot; Beth is an ambitious New Yorker completely unlucky when it comes to love. While in Rome for a wedding she steals coins from a fountain of love and finds herself in quite a predicament for the rest of the movie. There’s no doubt I plan on seeing this movie for a good laugh.
Take a look at the trailer!

Money Manners
Posted on January 11, 2010 · Leave a CommentI used to have this friend that each and every time we went out together, or even with a group of mutual friends, and it came time to split the bill, it always presented a sticky situation. She either only had the “exact change” and I (or the rest of the group) would have to “cover” her share of the gratuities; or she’d want to break down the bill to the last penny, rather than just simplify things for everyone and just divide it evenly amongst our group. Honestly, there was never much of a price differential in what we all ordered. It was so annoying, and she quickly became the brunt of many catty jokes. (Notice I said “friend I used to have”)
That’s not the only sticky money situation that calls for some finesse and etiquette.
Here are some others to consider.

OK Everyone – Sing Along With Me….
Posted on January 7, 2010 · Leave a Comment…. To the Tune of The 12 Days of Christmas….
On an average day of work,
My open office shared with me:
Twelve chatters chatting,
Eleven eaters eating,
Ten texters texting,
Nine ladies laughing,
Eight copiers beeping,
Seven cell phones buzzing,
Six doors a-slammin’,
Five high heels clickin’,
Four friends IM-ing,
Three thoughtless comments,
Two chatterboxes,
And a boss with endless deadlines!
I found that cute little ditty online…. so I can’t take credit for it, but it was too cute not to share.
With all the madness an open office environment brings, work still has to be done, and deadlines still have to be met. It’s hard to not get sucked in by all the distractions.
If office distractions and noise is a problem that’s affecting your productivity, try a shot of white noise (you thought I was going to say a shot of tequila, didn’t you?).
Check out this site and plug your earphones in to it.
