Pontiac No More…

I’m in the market for a new car and over the past few years I’ve liked what Pontiac had to offer, but being under a lease I couldn’t just trade cars. So I’m looking now since my lease will be up in four months, and do you know what I find? Pontiac is being “phased out.” I knew General Motors went under but I thought (like other dealerships do) that other brands under them would keep going. No I was wrong and very much out of the loop. Saturn has been completely shut down (I knew that) while Pontiac is being phased out and a few sold under Chevrolet.

Wondering what to do tonight? At 8:00 p.m. the Liddy Doenges Theatre is presenting I love you because. Catch this funny show where they break down the rules of dating and relationships. They go as far as to question what it really means to love someone and loving them for who they really are. They are in their last days of showing this hilarious performance, tomorrow night (Saturday 2/20) is their last show. It’s been compared to as a modern day Pride and Prejudice, where four young people are in the search for love.

A Bartender in your own home!

You always see it; you probably have done it yourself. You or your friends go out and you spend way too much on drinks. I know that my favorite drink is pretty expensive but I found a solution. Instead of going out, invite some friends over and hand out at your place. You can be your own bartender and make your own drinks, for a fraction of the price! While I’m not promoting heavy drinking, I’m promoting this delicious recipe for a Gunga Din Cocktail!
¾ oz. Gin
¼ oz. Vermouth- Dry
1 slice of a Pineapple
¼ oz. Juice- Orange
Shake all ingredients with cracked ice (preferably in a cocktail shaker) and strain into a chilled glass. Enjoy!
Please drink responsibly, and never drink and drive!

When in Rome… Act as the Romans do

On Friday January 29, 2010 the love comedy When in Rome premieres. While this movie seems a bit predictable, I can never turn down a comedy. I love the light-hearted commentary and the ease of a comedy. When in Rome follows that same plot; Beth is an ambitious New Yorker completely unlucky when it comes to love. While in Rome for a wedding she steals coins from a fountain of love and finds herself in quite a predicament for the rest of the movie. There’s no doubt I plan on seeing this movie for a good laugh.

Legally Blonde is one of my all time favorite movies. I’m sure you’ve seen it.
And now, the musical version is here!
Debuting on Broadway in 2007, and earning seven Tony Award nominations, 10 Drama Desk Award nominations and an Outer Critics Circle Award, the musical is now playing here in Tulsa at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. In 2009, the show also won three awards from The Broadway League for excellence in Broadway touring.
It’s gonna be great and I can not wait to go see it.
Spark New Decor with Old Flair

I love the challenge of transforming someone else’s trash into my treasure. To me, browsing through consignment shops, flea markets and antique stores is an art, and a sport. I’ve even been known to dumpster dive if the right curbside pile presents itself.
I use my special little finds and incorporate them into the decor of my apartment. It creates a homespun feel and makes my little space feel more inviting and unique.
Next month vintage fun comes to town, and you’ll find me at The Vintage Tulsa Show Antiques and Collectibles Sale, looking for my next treasure.
Here’s some more info on the sale…. be sure to download the discount admission coupon.
And, click here for some inspiration on how to decorate with antiques.
Anyone want to buddy up and go to the sale together?

Another Take on Thanksgiving Football

We all know Thanksgiving is about being grateful, enjoying amazing food, and being with family, but it’s also about FOOTBALL. Thanksgiving Day offers some of the best game rivalries, but it also marks the height of the holiday movie season. Break away from the usual games on TV and get out to one of the season’s best movie offerings – The Blind Side. Grab a seat and enjoy this great film while you digest your holiday meal.
The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw and Quinton Aaron is the true story of teenager Michael Oher who is surviving on his own, virtually homeless, when he is spotted on the street by Leigh Anne Tuohy. The story unfolds to depict a gesture of kindness that turns into something more as Michael becomes part of the Tuohy family despite the differences in their backgrounds.

On New Year’s Eve, the Mabee Center will be hosting blues legend B.B. King. Tickets are still available to see the living legend and the equally legendary Lucille, his trademark guitar he’s been playing since 1949. He still puts on a great show and should be a fine way to spend New Years. You can get tickets here.
